James H. Garvin, D.D.S.
Dr. James H. Garvin is an accomplished dentist who has been practicing in Batavia for 32 years; he is a second generation practice owner, serving Batavia for 59 years. Highly educated and well trained, he graduated in 1978 from Batavia High School and attended the University of Kansas, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1982. He then graduated from Northwestern University School of Dentistry in the class of 1986.
In addition to his studies completed at Northwestern, Dr. Garvin enhances his knowledge of the dental profession and his clinical performance by attending numerous continuing education courses throughout the year. He is dedicated to creating outstanding smiles for his patients using the latest technologies available. His affiliation as a Dawson Dentist, one who cares for patients at the highest ethical and professional level, gives him a unique skillset when treating patients.
Apart from normal business hours, Dr. Garvin has donated his services to local charities and promotes the importance of good oral health to local schools and throughout the community. Dr. Garvin has hosted numerous student internships at his private practice to those who are pursuing a career in the dental profession. He is currently a member of the American Dental Association (ADA), Illinois State Dental Society (ISDS), Fox River Valley Dental Society (FRVDS), and DENT-IL-PAC. In his free time, he enjoys exercise and fitness, running, music and traveling.

Marlena Giannamore, DMD
From a young age, Dr. Marlena Giannamore knew she wanted a career that combined her love for art and helping others. Her journey into dentistry began at just 10 years old, when getting braces sparked a fascination with the way oral healthcare could transform both smiles and lives. By the age of 16, she began working as a dental assistant—a role she held for 12 years, gaining hands-on experience and deepening her passion for the field. Volunteering with Missions of Mercy further fueled her desire to expand her skills and serve her community at a higher level.
Dr. Giannamore earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Public Health from East Carolina University, followed by her Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from Midwestern University.
She is dedicated to delivering high-quality, compassionate care that's tailored to each patient's unique needs. She believes in fostering strong patient relationships built on trust, open communication, and empathy. Committed to clinical excellence, Dr. Giannamore actively pursues continuing education through seminars and hands-on training to stay current with the latest advancements in dentistry. Her approach is rooted in evidence-based care and a genuine desire to help patients feel comfortable, heard, and confident in their oral health.
Outside of the office, Dr. Giannamore enjoys expressing her creativity through wood burning and painting. She also loves spending time outdoors—whether hiking, golfing with her fiancé, or taking her Golden Retriever to the park. A passionate home cook, she finds joy in creating meals and exploring new recipes in the kitchen. Above all, Dr. Giannamore is honored to be part of her patients' healthcare journey and looks forward to creating healthy, confident smiles for years to come.
Dr. Giannamore is available to see patients on Mondays and Tuesdays between 8:00 a.m. and 5 p.m..
